FAQ
Answers, before you ask.
Everything people commonly ask about getting certified, our hybrid model, pricing and team training. Still stuck? The free call covers your exact situation.
Getting certified
How long does it take to get certified?
It depends on the course, from a few hours for CPR and safety courses to between 40 and 300 hours for career certifications. Every course page lists its exact hours.
Do I need any experience or prerequisites to start?
Career (AMCA) programs require you to be at least 18, hold a high-school diploma or GED, read and do math at a 9th-grade level, and have basic English. AHA test-out renewals require holding a current certification in that course. Short safety courses have no prerequisites.
Will this help me get hired, and is the certification nationally recognized?
Yes. AMCA, AHA and HSI certifications are nationally recognized and OSHA-compliant, and our career programs include resume and interview help to get you working.
How long is my certification valid, and how do I renew it?
Most certifications are valid about two years. You renew with continuing-education units (CEUs) or by retaking the course, both offered by NJHEC.
Are courses online or in person?
We use a hybrid model: some courses are self-paced online, some are hybrid (online knowledge + in-person skills), and some are fully in person. The delivery mode is marked on every course.
Is instruction available in Spanish?
Yes, select courses can be taught in Spanish, though all exams are in English.
Enrollment & policies
How do I sign up for a course?
For short, low-cost courses (CPR, First Aid, safety courses), just contact us directly, message us on WhatsApp, email eric.viveiros@njhec.org, or call 973-897-8489, and we'll get you registered. For career programs and higher-value courses, book a free 15-minute call and we'll map the right plan.

We accept employer sponsorship and honor outside grants and scholarships you've already been awarded. (Additional workforce-funding options are being added.)
What is your refund and cancellation policy?
You'll receive a full refund with written (email) cancellation at least 24 hours before your course. Longer vocational programs follow the pro-rata refund schedule in our refund policy.
What do I need to register?
Photo ID (driver's license, birth certificate or passport), your high-school diploma or GED, and your initial payment. You can register up to 5 business days before a class starts.
For businesses & teams
How fast can you train our team, and what does it cost?
It depends on the course and group size. Book a free 15-minute team audit and we'll give you a plan and a quote, with no travel fees and same-day e-cards for AHA & HSI courses.
Do you come to us? Is there a group minimum?
Yes, we train on-site at your location with no travel fees, no minimum group size, and a maximum that varies by course. We schedule day or night around your operations.
Do you provide same-day certification cards?
AHA and HSI certification cards are issued the same day by email, so your team's compliance is documented immediately.
Are the courses OSHA-compliant?
Yes. Our safety and emergency courses are OSHA-compliant and nationally recognized through AHA, AMCA and HSI.
